The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) of Annamalai University, formerly known as Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) provides flexible education to those who are unable to join classroom-based courses. Founded in 1929 as per the provisions of the Annamalai University Act and headquartered at Annamalainagar, Tamil Nadu, the University started its distance programme in 1979 and is one of the largest institutions providing distance education in the country. It is the first university in India to provide postgraduate courses in Applied Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and Computer Science by distance mode.

For the session 2026, admissions for Undergraduate courses (BFA), Postgraduate courses (MA, MSc, MBA, MCom, MSc Yoga, MSW), Fine Arts courses (MFA), Diploma courses, Certificate courses and Grade level Music course are being accepted by CDOE. Step-by-Step Annamalai University Distance Education Admission Process

Applying to Annamalai University’s distance programmes is a simple, mostly online process. Here is how it works, step by step.

Step 1 – Visit the Official Admission Portal

The first step of the process entails visiting the CDOE admission portal, which provides candidates with access to the application form and the prospectus of the chosen programme. One must read the prospectus before anything else because it includes all the information on fees and eligibility criteria.

Step 2 – Select Desired Programme

Applicants will then select the programme that suits their interest and eligibility criteria depending on whether it is the B.F.A. in music or dance, the post graduate M.A. or M.Sc. course, MBA, diploma, or certificate programme. Each programme has its own eligibility criteria; hence checking the same is necessary before making any selection.

Step 3 – Fill Online Application Form

After selection of the programme, the applicant needs to submit an online application form giving all correct personal, educational and contact details. This includes his/her name, date of birth, qualifying examination, and correspondence address that must be the same as the documents attached.

Step 4 – Upload Required Documents

The applicants can then submit the scanned copies of the documents required for admissions, which include their degree or provisional certificates, mark sheets, transfer certificate, community certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card, and recent passport size photos.

Step 5 – Pay Admission/Application Fee

The next thing is to pay the application and admission fees using the online payment gateway on the portal, according to the prospectus of the selected program.

Step 6 – Document Verification

Verification of the original and copies of the required documents is done by the university after submission. The candidates who are close to the Learner Support Center (LSC) may choose the spot admission option, whereby the documents will be verified physically and the original will be handed back immediately after verification. Step 7 – Admission Confirmation & Enrollment

After the process of verification, the confirmation of admission takes place. The identity card with signature, together with the certificates, including the Transfer/Migration Certificate, is returned to the student through registered mail. The Confirmation of Admission form can also be downloaded from the website. Then, the student will be able to start studying the course material.

How to Check Annamalai University Distance Education Admission Status?

After sending in the application and paying the required fee, one may check the admission status via logging into the Students Faculty System through the CDOE portal by entering the User ID and password created during the registration process. The Confirmation of Admission is the document that serves as proof of admission and is downloadable after verification is done. Any document that is proven to be either incorrect or fraudulent during the verification process automatically cancels the admission and the fees paid are not refunded, hence keeping track of the status becomes important.
